Happy 2018! Well, we are a few days into the New Year. Mine certainly started out with a bang! A case of bronchitis. Thankfully, I was able to get myself going on meds right away and spent the whole week resting while it was sub-zero temperatures outside. Perfect excuse to stay in, I must say!
Welcome to the fifth day of my series, “The 12 Days of Shopping.” Sweater weather is upon us, especially in Chicago. So, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite seaters from my ultimate shopping haven, Nordstrom.
The 12 Days of Shopping Day 3: The Perfect Holiday Dress
You may have seen this dress if you follow me on Instagram stories — I actually wore this dress to my brother’s wedding in October. I bought this dress with the Holidays in mind and I absolutely fell in love with the dress and shoes, so I knew it had to be featured.
12 Days of Shopping Day One: Camel A-Line Coat
Today starts off my “12 Days of Shopping” series on my blog. I am going to round up my holiday favorites. These favorites will take you into the new year with ease. I will pack you full of gift guides and shopping advice for yourself too, because, you deserve a little some some. Everything here can be found in the links and by shopping the post below.
A few weeks ago I went on a coat shopping spree! Well, not really, but kind of. I scored this coat, as well as another coat I will be featuring on here in the next week or so. Both coats were $100 off the original price at Nordstrom. I am not sure why, but not too many people knew about this amazing sale. I feel like we all go after the “it” coat each year and wind up with the same ones. I, on the other hand, love individuality. This camel wool coat is one-of-a-kind.
Finding a nice dressy coat for me is not easy. First of all, I have slender shoulders and a slender waist. At the same time I am also pear shaped, so my hips don’t lie. The last time I bought a nice coat like this was in college, and I still wear it after eight years (has it been that long??). I still wear that coat and plan on continuing wearing it for years to come.
I am a sucker for Ellie Tahari. Wouldn’t you know, after trying on a bunch of OKAY or unflattering, yet popular styles, my pick without even noticing is this camel wool blend coat? Of course, it is because I am such a creature of habit. The A-Line is perfect for many body types, including mine. Now, one thing I seriously love about this coat is the gold detailed buttons. They give the coat a modern and sleek look.
I sized at a small petite, and it was the perfect size for me. This coat is seriously so comfortable and warm – and also features a satin and sleek lining. I feel like a million bucks in it. It’s a classic and flattering style that anyone would look amazing in. What works about it is it buttons up all the way to the top, so you have that added coverage on a cold and windy day (and we do get a lot of those here in Chicago).
Soft and warm layers are so important to me in the winter. I am not so much about wearing whatever is on trend – I need to stay warm! I am always cold no matter what. The perfect pairing for this coat is a soft cashmere sweater, much like the one I am wearing in this post. The cashmere sweater I am wearing was picked up on the same shopping trip. 100% cashmere and priced comfortably at $69 — now I call that one heck of a deal! Cashmere is a perfect choice if you do not want to feel bulky, but feel warm at the same time.
I did not own a cashmere sweater until a few years ago when I received the same deal at Nordstrom. Every year they carry just about every color on earth. If my wallet allowed it, I would have bought out every single color – and I’m not even kidding. It’s so classic to wear for any occasion and lasts for years. I am pretty sure I am going to have to go back and get them now that I praised them so much.

There we have it! Not going to lie, definitely going to indulge in myself on some of these sales… Happy shopping!
Welp, we welcomed Autumn here in Chicago this weekend, even though it does not feel like it. I am sitting here wishing I could wear all the great fall outfits I have ready for you all! I wanted to highlight by far, my favorite pants that will carry me beyond fall. I got them at the Gap, and all I can think about now is how I want to order them in every single color. Nonetheless, here is my outfit and my weekend roundup:
Let’s talk about stress. It’s something that I tend to carry. We all want to appear to be all cool calm and collected, don’t we? Well, it is something I am working on maintaining. In my field of work, stress happens. I am sure it happens in your career too.
Lately, I have been working on breathing exercises, journaling, and meditation to help me control my stress levels. It not only helps me control my stress but also my anxiety, which I have pretty much had since I was born (thank you genes). When I get bad news or have a stressful day working, I pause and reflect. I do not want to react (if you read this book, you know what I am talking about).
Gathered Pleat Front Tee
Part of my M.O. is finding fashion that is comfortable and will not stress me out; we all know what I am talking about. If I am wearing heels that KILL me or jeans that SQUEEZE me, I am going to feel restricted and not myself. Finding comfortable and fashionable clothing is what I am all about, and this top is no exception. This white top is affordable, soft, and trendy at the same time. It is not your traditional plain white T but can go from casual to dressed up with some pants and heels in a moment. In fact, I can even wear it around town with shorts and sandals just as easily and STILL get compliments on this.
Best of all, it is still available in many colors even after the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Shop the post below to style it the way you want to!
Just THREE days left of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I LOVE decorating and wished I had gone to interior design school. Here I am, though, where I rounded up my home shopping guide. I made it short – with just my few favorites. Take a look at what I would get!
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Home Shopping Guide
- Diffuser: I am in serious need of a diffuser for my apartment. I have yet to try one, but I love how they make places smell. This one is cool and modern looking, much like a lot of my apartment (it’s kind of modern/with mid century twists). It is priced below $40, so I believe this stylish diffuser is definitely a deal.
- Simpatico Candle: I hear this candle lasts such a long time and smells great! Definitely, one to try.
- Fluffy Pillow: This is definitely a stylish and affordable add-on to the home section. Anything fluffy feels great!
- Throw blanket: I love Nordstrom throw blankets – I have had mine for years. This one can go with anything and it comes in any color. Being priced at $25.90, this one is a bargain.
- Rug: The rug, I believe, ties in with everything. I love these antique looking rugs I have been seeing everywhere. I definitely need it as an addition to my home too!
- Comforter: I would be getting this if it wasn’t for the fact I just bought a new one. This adds so much color and vibrancy to a bedroom. It is one of the top picks on the Nordstrom Sale’s page.

Winding down my faves from the sale this week, and a couple of tops I’ve shot so far have SOLD OUT! Crazy. The bad news is, I wish I could share, but I would have nothing to link them to. So, I decided to dig back into the sale and find you some serious steals under $50.
